About Kerry

Creative Writing

I wrote fiction in high school and university, forgot about it, became a journalist, teacher and mother before realising that, for me, writing is one of the few things worth doing.

When I was six years old, I was sent to live with an uncle and his family. During this time, my mother left the country, returning only briefly for decades after. Now living abroad myself, I’m apparently obsessed with ideas of home and belonging, which I explore in my creative writing.

Other Writing

In addition to fiction and a bit of poetry, I write journalistic articles on a wide range of topics.

I also do content writing, legal proofreading and Japanese to English translation.

I’ve proofread academic papers, worked as a translation (Japanese to English) post-editor and re-written Japanese press releases into English for publication in Japan’s most established English language newspaper.

A bit more about me

I I live in Tokyo with my family. I recently passed the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test! I like running while listening to reggae, and I’m always on the hunt for easy vegan recipes that a four year-old would eat unquestioningly.

Brawta

Nothing at all to do with writing: trying my hand (whole body) at modelling in Japan. Fa real.
